Reply with quote | #1 | What can we say about March, wind, wind and more wind. Now that it is April the winds have continued with a little rain mixed in. The few days a week the winds aren't blowing the weather has been perfect, calm and sunny. The fishing ,wind or no wind, has been good, especially for the big Redfish. Numerous schools have shown up on a consistent basis and are eating well. Smaller Redfish have been tailing on the flats in the morning and sometimes throughout the day, giving great sight fishing opportunities with flies. Large Seatrout can still be found lying motionless in sand holes. The water levels are starting to climb which will get the fish spreading out and moving onto flats that have been dry for most of the winter. Fly fishing has been pretty good, some days better then others due to the wind. We are looking forward to the next couple of months because fishing should get even better with the water levels coming up and more consistent weather patterns (no more cold fronts). On another positive note Tarpon will start showing up as the weather warms. Spotted my first one (tarpon) on the flats last week.
